What’s the Best Museum in Your City?

Museums are the pearl of the city. Even a mediocre city usually has at least one solid museum to spend a good day in; most have enough to fill the entire trip. Some of them are universally recognized as treasures: everyone knows the value of the Louvre, the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan. Less, but still many know about the Rochester Strong Museum of Play or the pinball machines at the Silverball Museum in New Jersey.

When I was in Tokyo recently, I wish I spent less time in the musty main wing of the National Museum, and more in the several art museums that surround the same park. I am delighted to have dropped by the Royal Ueno Museum , which now exhibits accessible and exciting contemporary art, such as Ishiba Ayako’s “sketch” photography .

What are the best museums in your city? What are underrated? Which ones are contemplating or are commercial “experiences”? What is the most specialized museum you like – the one that you would only recommend to people with a certain taste? What is your child’s favorite museum? Who has the best audio tour? Which museum gave you the most? Which museum was the most amazing physically?

What’s your best museum hacker? (Are these independent tours run by a real Museum Hack company?) How do you get the discount or what reciprocal membership have you discovered? How to avoid museum fatigue ? Are there hidden parts in the museum that can be seen by talking to the right person? Which museums host the best events? Which museum has the best cafĂ© and can you get there without an admission fee?

Let us know in the comments and we will post all the best tips in the “Personnel” tab. (Do not forget to indicate which city you are talking about!). Bonus points if you tell us what you like best about the museum.
