Play This Game With Your Kids When You’re Done Raising Kids

Sometimes you just need a break. Maybe the child kept you awake all night, or every hour of every waking moment was hanging on your leg in recent history. You may not have any idea how to entertain your young child for one more second, and all you really need is to lie down.

That’s when author and podcaster Hillary Frank says you should play What’s On My Ass? the game.

Frank recently interviewed Terry Gross on NPR Fresh Air about her new book, Strange Parenting Wins . When Gross asked Frank if she had come across any particularly helpful parenting tips while researching her books, which she still uses, Frank suggested the following:

Frank: “There’s a game my mom invented called“ What’s on my ass? “And you play like that, when you feel like you just need a break and your child feels like he wants to play, you lie face down on the couch. And you tell your child to find some random object in the house, put it on his ass, and you have to guess what it is. I play this with my daughter and it allows me to refuel. “

Gross: “What do you think?”

Frank: “No, it’s impossible to guess.”

Not only does her daughter still enjoy playing the game – she is also in charge of cleaning up all of the items at the end.

Another suggestion if you feel like you just stopped parenting today / this week / this month: read this cathartic Reddit post about unexpected hatred of parenting . The poor guy has 8 month old twins and comments of support and empathy will make you feel warm and fuzzy.
