Do You Really Need to Have Breakfast?
In nutrition, the most important thing is that you eat (1) in general, (2) in a reasonable amount, and (3) at least healthy food. The exact meal time doesn’t matter much, and there is no galactic scoreboard on which you have to count how many times you skip breakfast.
So the short answer is no. You can skip breakfast and you will be fine.
As we discussed earlier , the idea that breakfast is “the most important meal of the day” has been popularized by companies that sell breakfast products . From a nutritional standpoint, there are a few minor pros and cons. For example, eating during the day, and especially early in the day, can help your body clock better track when you should be awake; on the other hand, skipping breakfast prolongs the night fast (you literally interrupt fasting , you know?), which may have some benefits for your metabolism.
So, whether you should eat breakfast depends on what it does for you. If you have healthy and delicious food at home, have breakfast before leaving the house so you don’t drop into the bakery or vending machine when you get hungry in the middle of the morning. Or, if you exercise in the morning and prefer to do it on an empty stomach, stick with what works.
