These Shops Are Open on New Years
New Year is a big holiday, so big that you might run into trouble when visiting some of its stores.
January 1 is a public holiday, so there will be no mail delivery or garbage collection. However, if you are looking to buy groceries or acquire new useless items, you might be in luck.
Here is a rundown of all the national networks that we know will be open. If you do not see where you want to go in the list, this does not mean that they are closed. However, it is advised to call local hotspots before heading out in case they decide to close for the day.
Stores are open during their normal hours unless otherwise noted. Many close earlier, so it is better to leave sooner rather than later:

- Target (8am to midnight for stores that tend to open late)
- Bed Bath & Beyond (open from 10:00 to 18:00)

- TJ Maxx (open from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm)
- Marshalls (open from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm)
- Home Depot (open from 9:00 to 20:00)
- JC Penny (open from 10:00 to 21:00)
