Make Your Own New Years Eve Balloon

Making New Years Eve special for your kids can take a little work. You’ve got sparkling cider, a play night planned with fun prizes for the winners, maybe a movie marathon or a hot chocolate station.

But something else is missing. You want to increase your magic a notch or three higher.

Have you ever thought about falling from a hot air balloon with your hands?

You know the kind of things you see in movies at surprise parties or New Year’s Eve parties, with balloons floating and bouncing softly over the dizzy and bouncing party-goers? Putting one together isn’t as difficult as you might think.

That’s what you need

  • A plastic tablecloth or about 2 yards of lightweight cloth.
  • Masking tape or masking tape
  • Potholders (optional)
  • Bouquet of colorful balloons
  • Balloon pump (I guess not necessary, but nice to have)
  • Confetti (this is optional – it adds magic, but ear, cleaning)

Step 1

Cut the fabric into two straight pieces.

Step 2

Place two pieces of fabric next to each other as if they were one piece, on the floor or on a large table. Tie the two pieces together with one long tape, creating a seam.

Step 3

After the two pieces are glued on, leave the long end of the tape for yourself, folding the tape towards you until you reach the fabric. This is your non-sticky pulley handle.

Step 4

Tape or tape the four corners of your mesh to the ceiling, hanging down in the middle so your balloons fit inside. The corners must be particularly reliable; otherwise, your balloon blob may also include a tissue blob. If you are worried that someone will accidentally jerk the pulley ahead of time, glue it to the ceiling as well.

Step 5

Inflate the balloons.

STEP 6

Use a stool to add balloons and confetti.

Step 7

Countdown just before midnight ( or any other time you pretend to be midnight ), pull the pulley and … HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

Watch this video to get an idea of how to set up your balloon and what it will look like. Yes, this video suggests stitching the two halves of the tablecloth together, which also works. We just love the ease of recording.
