Google recently looked at historical airfare and determined that Monday travel could be 31% cheaper than Sunday travel from multiple destinations. So, instead of taking the long weekend that starts on Friday, you might be better off moving the three-day weekend trip to Saturday-Monday.
You can also save money by exploring nearby airports. While you might think that a large airport will offer the best deals, sometimes the decision to fly from a small local airport can save you tons of money.
The search giant is also offering to book this weekend getaway at MLK now. Flights from MLK weekend get cheaper 21 days before departure. If you cannot book now, these flights may also drop approximately 9 days after departure. And we are not talking about small savings. According to Google, airfare can sometimes drop 57%.
