How to Make and Receive Skype Calls With Amazon Echo

Amazon started rolling out Skype support for Amazon Echo devices this week. With this feature, you can make and receive Skype voice calls with something like Echo Dot and make video calls with Amazon Echo Show.

Before you can start using it, you need to link your Skype and Amazon accounts. To do this, open the Amazon Alexa app, then go to Settings, then Communications, and then Skype. From there, enter your Skype login details to link the two accounts.

After connecting these two devices, you will receive 100 minutes of free calls to use for the next 2 months.

Once everything is set up, you can make Skype calls through your Alexa device by saying something like “Alexa call Bob on Skype”. When calls come in, you can simply say “Alexa, pick up the phone” to connect the calls. If you want to call a number that is not in your contacts, you can also do so by simply asking Alexa to call that number via Skype.

If you’re not already a Skype user, there is. Not a big reason to set this up, but if you do, it can make placing and receiving calls a lot smoother.
