Give a Friend 1Password a Year for Free

Everyone should use a password management app. Even if you have to pay for one, it’s worth the convenience – no more writing down and remembering passwords – and security. One of our favorite password management apps, 1Password is running an awesome holiday promotion that allows current 1Password users to give a friend a free, one-year 1Password Families subscription (worth $ 60).

If you don’t have 1Password friends but want to take advantage of this offer, I’m sure you’ll find someone to give you their gift. To fill someone’s supply with a secure password management gift, you just need to go to this page and click the big Send Gift Now button (which basically just logs into 1Password – nothing fancy).

On the home page of your 1Password account, look for the Happy Thanksgiving option in the sidebar of the app. You cannot miss it:

And yes, you can only give one free year to new users; they don’t have to sign up with a credit card or anything like that – no annoying freezes. The promotion ends on November 30th, so make sure you pick someone worthy of your gift over the next few days.

I understand and acknowledge that this promotion is a great way for 1Password to grow its subscribers, as there is a good chance that anyone who adds their passwords to the service and integrates it into their life over the course of a year is much more likely to pay for 1Password, as only the company will lend a helping hand.

However, having a reliable password manager for 365 days – free – is an offer that absolutely needs to be checked (or passed on to a friend or loved one). And it’s not that hard to migrate passwords from one service to another when you’re at the end of the year.
