This Science Fiction Writer Predicted the Internet and Invented the Water Bed

In our newest Lifehackers of History video series, we explore the amazing accomplishments of famous people from the past. First comes science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein.

Trained as a naval engineer, Heinlein used his technical knowledge to make predictions in his letters, and many of those predictions eventually came true, such as interstate highways and the Internet.

He also came up with the idea for a modern water mattress, gave us writing instructions, and built a customized tech dream home.
