New Parents, Let Alexa Whisper to You

For young parents, Alexa can be a huge help – she can create a playlist of lullabies, or order more boogie woogie napkins, or let you hear what’s going on in the nursery . But the voice assistant didn’t always follow social cues so well. Let’s say you finally put your child to bed and very quietly ask Alexa to dim the lights, the smart device will give “Good!” Gahhhh. Come on, Alexa, work with us here!

Finally, Alexa is running “whisper mode” which means you can now whisper to her and she whispers back to her. The feature was announced at the Amazon Echo event last month and launched in the US.

It sounds good if you ask me:

To enable this feature, you can either say “Alexa, turn on whisper mode” or do it manually from the Alexa app ( Settings > Alexa Account > Alexa Voice Responses > Whisper Responses ).
