How to Hide Your App Folder Names in IOS

If you’re the type of person who gets a little creative with organizing apps on your iPhone or iPad – for example, by the color of the icons – it might be time to take your device’s look to the next level. Sure, you can call your folders descriptive and / or witty, like “yellow”, instead of the category of apps found in it, but here’s a trick you can use to drop folder names entirely.

At first, you might think this sounds a little “aha”, but try deleting the folder name yourself. Tap on an app folder, tap and hold its name until you see a gray frame behind it, tap the name, delete everything, and tap Done. Boom. The name appears again. The same happens if you just enter a space for the folder name. Apple has caught all your little gimmicks – all but one.

To clear the folder names of your iPhone or iPad, you need to instead copy that white space – the Unicode character into empty braille space instead of the “normal” white space:

[⠀] - Copy the "blank" between the brackets

If that doesn’t work because Kinja can be fussy, you can also copy and paste the same white space from GadgetHacks.com where we first found this trick. However, you are copying the blank space, be sure to paste it into your Notes document for easy access (and limit it to a couple of bullets, such as [] or <>, so you remember what it is).

Now go back to the folder you want to rename and scroll until you delete its original name. Paste in a “blank” space, click “Done” and you should have an empty folder name – or it should appear like this.
