What’s in Store for and Out of Netflix in the Week of October 1, 2018
Nostalgic movies hit Netflix this week with Burning Saddles , Empire Records , Once Upon a Time in America, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and Rumble in the Bronx on Monday. They also toss us a bunch of recent crop dramas that are of no interest to anyone, but which actually serve as “last resort” when you just can’t deal with the damn news anymore: Mystic River, Pay It Forward, Sommersby , The Green Mile and the Lake House. – they will all wash over you, like fog, and on the 1st.
Your best bet is definitely Private Life , a Netflix movie about trying to conceive a child in 40s directed by Tamara Jenkins ( Slums of Beverly Hills). It features Paul Giamatti and Katherine Hahn, two celebrities who are likely to win a poll that asks, “What Gen X stars would you watch in absolutely anything?”
The Human Centipede finishers will be saddened that Sequence One is leaving this week, but the Radiance arrives to fill the void.
