What Songs Are Not for Children You Listen to With Children?

My 5 year old daughter’s favorite songs so far include “Surf Wax America” by Weezer, “Wonderwall” by Oasis and “One Day” by Matisyahu. My husband and I realized early on that while children’s music had evolved beyond Barney’s peppy choruses – and some of them are really great – we didn’t have to change our playlists too much for her little ears. She will happily pick up everything that sounds through the speakers.

In the upcoming issue of The Upgrade, we want to know: What non-kids songs are you listening to with your kids? Is your preschooler repeating the words to Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man”? Is your mini Queen fan playing “Bohemian Rhapsody” on repeat? Have you also watched the video for OK Go’s “This Too Shall Pass” 87 times? Let us know by leaving a comment here, by sending a voice note to upgrade@lifehacker.com, or by calling (347) 687-8109 with your answer. We’re looking for specific songs, not artists or genres, so we can create a playlist of our favorites. Tell us which tracks do your kids like?
