How to Install Apple IOS 12, WatchOS 5, and TvOS 12 Updates

Apple is set to release many of the software updates it announced last week today, including iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12.

There is no official “release time” for the updates, but if the company is sticking to tradition, Apple should begin rolling out around 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT for every Mac 9to5 .

If you’re planning on getting updates today, now is a good time to back up your iPhone in anticipation of the main event. You will definitely want to do this today before downloading the update, just in case something gets risky and you have to do a hard reset unexpectedly on your device. It’s always better to play it safe than sorry, especially when you are dealing with a new version of the OS.

Also, keep in mind that the download will likely take longer than usual right now when the update comes out, simply because everyone on the planet is trying to download and install the update at the same time. If you need a phone for a conference call in the middle of the day, you can wait until the process begins. A good rule of thumb is to choose a time that your device can be in MIA mode for at least an hour. If that helps, please wait.

iOS 12

You’ll find iOS 12 on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings, then General, and then Software Update.

To update your device, you must be connected to Wi-Fi and charged at least 50% of the battery (or your device must be connected to the network).

watchOS 5

If you have an original Apple Watch, you will be left out of today’s OS update. For everyone else, the update can be found by going to the Watch app on your iPhone and selecting General and then Software Update.

tvOS 12

You will find tvOS 12 by clicking the Settings app on your Apple TV and choosing Update Software.

And keep in mind that the first release of a new OS tends to be a little buggy as well. You might also consider waiting a day or two to see how others feel about updates before downloading them to your own device.
