IOS Users: Don’t Forget to Download the Obscura 2 Camera App for Free
iOS: The words “Apple” and “free” are a bit like oil and water – just ask anyone who works for the company and is unable to participate in Silicon Valley’s custom of free lunches and dinners for everyone. However, Father Cook is feeling generous this month and Apple is offering the excellent Obscura 2 camera app for free. Here’s how you get it (and save $ 5).
First, open the Apple Store app on iOS. If you deleted it from your device long ago, you can re-download it from the App Store here . Yes, the Apple Store app and the App Store app are two different things.
Once you’re in the Apple Store app, scroll down to the very bottom of the Discover page – you’ll be there by default when you download the app. Then scroll up a bit until you see a darker “Recommended Application” section that starts with the larger “Exclusively for you” section. text and contains the icon, name and description of the Obscura application 2. Tap anywhere in this section.
On the screen that appears, you will get some more text that says Obscura 2. Ignore it and hit the big blue “Free Download Now” button at the bottom. You will be taken to the App Store on your device and your activation code for Obscura 2 will be automatically filled in on the page. Click “Redeem” in the upper right corner and you get a free version of the camera app, which is quite somewhat preferred over the default Apple camera app.
What I love about Obscura 2 is that the app offers a lot of settings that you can tweak for more accurate photography, all within the reach of your finger. You can quickly adjust your iPhone’s ISO, shutter speed, exposure, and focus. It’s also easy to add filters to the shots you’re about to take, adjust the white balance, and add levels and grids to make sure you’re shooting straight.
You have until September 25th to grab your free copy of Obscura 2, so don’t waste any time.
