Automatically Generate Website Links for Bibliography With This Chrome Extension
When I was in college, my least favorite part of writing research papers was figuring out how to write a bibliography. Quoting sources is tedious and can be confusing if you have to work in several different styles. This week I came across a Chrome extension that I wish I had in college that does the hard work for you, at least for websites.
Called Cite This For Me , it automatically creates APA, MLA, Chicago or Harvard style website links with a quick click on its icon in your browser toolbar.
When you click on the toolbar, when looking at the fabulous article that you are about to link to in your article, you click the icon and a pop-up window appears where you can switch between different styles, and copy and paste the style of your choice, which is probably a great research paper you are working on.
It’s not perfect. I tried it on several Lifehacker articles and for some reason it couldn’t display the article title, but everything else was fine. That is, your mileage may be different and you still have to provide the information you are copying and paste it again before passing it on to your professor.
It also won’t do you any good for things like books and videos, you still have to figure it out on your own, but if you cite a ton of things on the internet it might make the build of this bibliography progress a little faster.
