How to Motivate Yourself to Exercise Every Morning

Long before I noticed any fitness benefits from doing burpees every morning , I noticed something else: I really, really didn’t feel like getting out of bed. Because, getting out of bed, I had to do burpees.

But now is the 21st of the month, and I deal with burpees every day. Sometimes I really didn’t feel like it, but every day I was happy when I finished. Here are some of the tactics that have got me this far:

Get Rid of Minor Troubles

I found that the worst thing about morning burpees was not the exercise itself – which I do – but the fact that it makes you all sweat and is disgusting in the morning. And if you do 30 burpees in your pajamas, you have super sweaty pajamas. Ugh.

So I change from pajamas to workout clothes. If I’m going to do more this morning, this system works fine. If not, I put on my sports bra and shorts, then take them off and take a quick shower before dressing for the whole day.

Another slight annoyance is that I really don’t like exercising right after I wake up. But the morning routine lasts from a few minutes to hours, not seconds. I realized that I felt much better doing sports if I did it, maybe 20 minutes after waking up, after I had the opportunity to drink some caffeine, feed my children and maybe spend a few minutes with fogged eyes, scrolling on your phone.

Make a small commitment

You may be able to do a ton of burpees when you’re really motivated, but you have to do the exercise every day, even on days when you’re feeling very tired. Even on weekdays, the work is very busy. So I don’t do 50 burpees a day; I told myself that I would do at least 10. With all of the possible variations burpee, there is a possibility that you will be able to do 10 of them. (Or five! Or three!)

Track it

I have a bad habit of giving up great ideas before I get a chance to implement them. But I really wanted to do burpees every day for a month, so I installed an iphone app called Done so I wouldn’t forget. Every day he reminds me to do a burpee, and every day I can enter the number I made.

Something about my progress really motivated me. The app encourages you to keep streaming, which is great, but it also adds how many times you’ve done your habit (Burpee in my case). Once I found my rhythm, I knew I was on the right track to hit a thousand burpees by the end of the month. Well, I’m sure I’m not going to miss a day now because that means I will have to work at 30+ Burpees elsewhere this month.

Make a backup plan

After a couple of weeks, I began to suffer from aching back pain. I’ve felt it before and I know it’s not serious, but it means I need a little rest. But how to rest without interrupting your lane?

I went back to those modified burpees that we mentioned earlier. I skipped push-ups and stepped instead of jumping. It’s not a very strong exercise, but it kept me in the habit and gave me time to recover. After two days of light burpees, I felt great returning to my usual.

If I couldn’t do burpees at all, I would completely change my goals: if I broke my leg, maybe I would find an arm exercise that I could do every morning. Remember that this is not a very strict burpee competition; it is a fitness challenge when we do something for ourselves .

It’s okay if you don’t have the perfect streak. Heck, this is our sixth fitness challenge, and so far the only one I’ve been able to do every single day. So, how is your month going? Have you been doing burpee for more days than not? Are you keeping track of your total? Don’t forget that you can set a new goal for yourself as we hit the home stretch!
