Get Alexa on Your Apple Watch With This App
If you want to use the voice assistant on your Apple Watch, you’re pretty much limited to Siri’s soft tones. This week, a new app brought another popular assistant to your wrist: Alexa.
Voice in Bank is a third-party app that brings Alexa and some (but not all) of her features to your wrist. To use it, you (obviously) need to connect your Amazon account to the $ 2 app. When you do, you can click on its icon on your watch and instantly connect to your virtual assistant to do just about anything you can do with Echo.
Notable things Alexa can’t do on your watch include reading audiobooks and playing music. However, it can do things like control your smart light, turn on an Alexa-enabled espresso machine, or read a flash briefing. Almost everything is supported, but the developer warns that you may encounter some skills that won’t work.
Why do you need it? The idea is that there are times when you may not be near your Echo and need access to some of its features, especially smart home features. Voice in the bank works on its own without a phone, so you can go for a run and lock the doors or start the espresso machine.
Basically, it brings you one step closer to the Inspector Gadget lifestyle that we are all working on.
