Make a Gourmet Cherry Lemonade With Maraschino Liqueur

Happy weekend and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we are making an improved adult version of one of my favorite summer drinks: cherry lemonade.

Rather than relying on cherry juice or sugary syrup, this lemonade gets its cherry flavor from Maraschino, a tart, dry liqueur made from whole cherries (including the seeds that give it a very pleasant almond flavor). While most cocktails use it as an accent, this drink uses a whole ounce of it. Combined with vodka (so as not to distract from Maraschino) and lemonade (because it’s sunny outside), you get a delicious drink perfect to sip on sneakily at a corporate picnic or family gathering. To make it you will need:

  • 1 1/2 ounce vodka
  • 1 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
  • 2 ounce lemonade

Mix everything in a shaker with ice and shake until cool. Strain into a container also filled with ice. Drink and rejoice.
