How to Watch the Stanley Cup Final Even Without TV
Tonight, the Golden Knights of Las Vegas will take on the Washington Capitals in the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals, and next year the winner will walk away with Lord Stanley.
Regardless of who wins, their victory will be historic. The Capitals have never won the Stanley Cup and only made it to the final once when they lost to Detroit Redwings. This is the first season of the Knights, so if they win the team will literally win the championship every year they play.
If you want to watch this year’s playoff games, there are several ways to do so.
When:
Games kick off today (May 28) and will potentially run through June 13. Each starts at 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT.
After today’s game, there will definitely be Game 2 on May 30, which will be played in Vegas, and games 3 and 4 will be played on June 2 and 4 in Washington. If the team has not won by then, Game 5 will be played on June 7th in Vegas, then Game 6 on June 10th in Washington, and finally Game 7 again on June 13th in Vegas.
The tournament is the top four of seven games, so it ends when the team has four wins in the streak.
Conventional television
If you have a television, you can watch all four to seven games live on NBC. You should be able to watch NBC using any antenna. If you don’t have one (why not ?!), you can buy pretty cheap on Amazon here.
Streaming
Both NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app offer live streaming of games, but cable entry is required to access them. If you have one of these, or can borrow one, this is a good choice.
Otherwise, you can catch games using any of the streaming services that offer access to NBC. These include YouTube TV, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV Now, and Hulu with Live TV. Prices start at $ 25 to $ 40 per month each (Sling is the cheapest), and they all offer a free trial that you can potentially use to watch the finale, then cancel if you don’t see yourself continuing to watch TV in live broadcast. go forward.
