What’s Your Favorite Grocery Store?
Hello and welcome back toWhat’s Cooking? , an open thread where you can share your brilliant thoughts, tips, recipes and opinions on all food related matters. This week I want to talk about buying food, specifically where you buy it.
Last week I was attacked on the Internet. As a woman who wrote on the specified Internet for many years, I was used to attacks, but this one stung. You see, there was an article in one food magazine that suggested grocery stores for each astrological sign . Even if I don’t believe in astrology, I totally believe in astrology, so imagine my shock when I scroll down to find that they were offering, I triple Leo would do best to get my products from Walmart. This gave me a lot of experiences from the grocery store that I didn’t even know I had. Aside from this particular problem and the sensations associated with it, I would like to talk about grocery shopping in general, because I love grocery shopping.
- First of all, what’s your favorite grocery store? I have Publix, but Trader Joe’s is pretty good too .
- Can you shop at your favorite grocery store, or are there factors preventing you from doing this? Publix is in Florida and I’m in Oregon. Also, I don’t have a car, so I go to nearby stores like New Seasons and Market of Choice. Sometimes I’ll go to Safeway because it’s much cheaper, but it’s also a longer walk.
- Are you one of those who order groceries online? What does it look like? I can see this works for dry goods, but I love to visually inspect my groceries and meats before buying them.
- Do you buy all food in one store or diversify? I like to go to one place whenever possible.
- Do you have a Costco membership? What do you like best about him? When I lived in a house with storage I loved stocking up on La Croix and other non-perishable items, but I urge you not to sleep on their cheese and cold cuts, which is very good. You can also buy decent steaks there for a very decent price. I grew up on Costco steaks.
- Tell me about your feelings as Trader Joe. I like them mainly because of the snacks . I also love their pre-cooked lentils, veggie masala burgers and a selection of cheeses.
- What’s your favorite place to buy cheese? Merchant Joe and Costco. (I repeat here)
- What’s your favorite place to shop for groceries? I love the farmers market if I wake up early enough to go, but New Season does a really good job of supplying local seasonal produce.
- What is the best regional grocery chain? Publix.
- Do you have a coupon? Is the coupon worth it? Do you have any good coupon apps? The only coupon app I have on my phone is for JOANN Fabrics, but it’s useless here. Coupons overwhelm me for some reason.
