Happy Hour of Three Ingredients: Easter Bell

Happy Easter weekend friends, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. We’re making a super refreshing, eye-pleasing drink this week.

You may remember our New Year ‘s Elizabeth Taylor cocktail, in which violet cream, gin and sparkling wine were mixed to create a very beautiful and very festive libation. Since then, a bottle of crème de violets has just cooled down in my bar trolley, waiting to be played again, and it is with great pleasure that I present you with another shade of purple. This drink is based on a little blue moon cocktail, with the only difference that we use vodka instead of gin. Why vodka, you ask? Because I’m out of gin, and most of the cocktails in this column are based on it anyway. Whether you opt for gin or vodka, the result is a vibrant, tart and sweet drink that’s perfect for your Easter ham. To make it you will need:

  • 2 ounces of vodka (or gin if you like)
  • 3/4 oz purple cream
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice with a strip of zest reserved for garnish if desired

Add all the ingredients except the zest to the ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously until the shaker is unpleasantly cold. Pour into a compartment glass and garnish with zest.
