How to Get a Better Price When Exchanging for Apple Watch

Apple just made it easy to trade your old Apple Watch for store credit. The company that previously ran an online exchange program is now personally picking up your old smartwatch. Better yet, Apple seems to pay more for a face-to-face trade than it does for an online trade.

Reddit user ajsayshello broke the news (later confirmed by 9to5Mac ) this week, reporting that Apple had offered him $ 100 for a first-generation 42mm stainless steel Apple Watch. By comparison, Apple’s exchange site lists the original smartwatch at $ 75 or less. That’s an extra $ 25 for leaving the house, although there’s no guarantee you’ll get the same deal as ajsayshello.

It’s also a better deal than trading the first-generation Apple Watch for Amazon, which currently provides around $ 60 in store credit . However, if you want to make as much money as possible from your old technology, and you don’t mind doing a little bit of work, there are several other options.

On eBay, the same Apple Watch typically sells for around $ 150, while on Swappa (a popular technology resale site) it can go as high as $ 255 . However, using any of these websites means shipping, packaging, and providing PayPal with a share of your sale. If that sounds like too much of a headache, consider the Apple Store a simpler, albeit less profitable, solution.
