Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Ruins of Mr. Bundchen
Happy Super Bowl weekend everyone and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. This week we’re making a cocktail tribute to America’s most controversial defender: Tom Bündchen.
I confess that I haven’t paid much attention to football this year, so I’m not up to date with my stats and facts, but I know the following things about old Tom to be correct:
- He’s a good defender.
- His $ 200 cookbook was devoid of joy (and tomatoes).
- His wife didit .
- He never ate strawberries .
- I really don’t want him to win another Super Bowl.
Based on these truths, it only made sense to make a green cocktail (to support Philadelphia, kind of reluctantly) and have that green cocktail be strawberry-flavored. At first it seemed like a silly idea, since the strawberries are clearly not green, but then I remembered the Haribo strawberry gummies, which are inexplicably green.
Taking an example from a certain A.A. Newton , I put 91 grams of strawberry gummy bears in a can of 200 grams of vodka, and then I put the can in a bath at 140 degrees for three hours. Then I filtered the liquor through several coffee filters and marveled at the beauty of the filtrate.
Once you’ve done that, you have two options: you can let the vodka come to room temperature and then make the cocktail below, or you can pour it into tiny cups and make a very light, very strong two-part jelly. -About shots.
I hate Jell-O, so I chose a cocktail. Considering the fact that we have already used two ingredients to make the liquor, we will only add one. To destroy Mr. Bundchen, you will need:
- 2 ounces of green strawberry liqueur
- Soda water (or ginger ale if you need something sweeter)
Take a small glass of ice and pour in the liqueur, drizzle with baking soda to taste, stir to dissolve, and top with ice. Raise your glass to Philadelphia, grab a bite and repeat until New England is defeated.
