Canadians, Get Your Winter Forecast Based on the Long John Index

Joining the long tradition of bringing weather forecasts to life (a tradition honored by apps , microsites, andHaitian meteorologists ), Long John Index provides a daily Canadian forecast in the style of those “stereotype area” maps .

Every day – well, most of the time – every winter, cartoonist Colin McIntyre rates the frozenness of each city on a scale of 1 to 5, along with color-coded commentary. You can check out the blog or follow it on Twitter .

The site also has some analysis that scientifically answers the question, “I don’t know how cold it is?” and a glossary of cold terms such as winter memory deprivation (the reason you get surprised by the cold every year) and hair limits in the workplace (when it’s cold enough so your boss can’t get mad at your hat)).
