Block Marketing Emails Sent Directly to MailChimp
Yes, you can unsubscribe from individual mailing lists, but what if I told you that you can unsubscribe from every marketing email sent to you in one fatal stroke?
When it comes to trying to get to mailbox zero, the struggle is so real for most of us. Watching emails from real people who really want a response from you can be a daunting task. When you add marketing emails that were sometimes sent to hundreds of thousands of people at the same time, it can get pretty overwhelming. Aside from just keeping your email address private, you can’t stop receiving all email, but you can do something about these marketing messages.
According to Jamie King’s newsletter , you can contact the service provider on all of these emails and ask to be put on their blocked list, effectively unsubscribing all companies using the service list and preventing yourself from being added to others.
Admittedly, this is a pretty bold move. However, if you constantly receive a flood of marketing emails from people that you don’t want them to, they can be pretty solid.
King specifically laid out instructions on how to handle MailChimp emails. He contacted the company’s anti- abuse team and gave him an email address asking him to add it to MailChimp’s blacklist. When you do, you will no longer be able to receive emails from anyone using MailChimp (even from the people you want to receive messages from) unless you ask to be removed from the main blacklist in the future. For this reason, it is not worth taking any action if there are marketing emails that you might want or need to receive for, say, business reasons.
However, if you receive a lot of marketing emails on a regular basis, blocking them at source can make a huge difference to your inbox.
And if you want to do the same with regular contact emails, here’s how to do it via John Haller . It’s a little more difficult, but should be incredibly satisfying in the end.
And if you’d rather not block services entirely, there are plenty of apps available, like Deseat.Me , to help you manage things and keep your inbox under control.
