How to View Today’s State of the Union Message

Thank you for choosing Lifehacker for a last minute search for “How to Watch SOTU”. You could have chosen anyone, but you have chosen us. Okay, here’s how to watch the president impress commentators without shouting out a word for a letter for an hour:

When will it happen

Today’s SOTU kicks off at 9:00 pm ET. These are 8 CST, 7 MST and 6 PST. A Democratic response presented by escaped animatronic Congressman Joe Kennedy from Massachusetts will follow. Virginia State Representative Elizabeth Guzman will provide a response in Spanish.

On TV

ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and Fox will air SOTU, as will Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and C-SPAN, TV Guide reported.

online

The White House will broadcast the address live on Whitehouse.gov and on its YouTube channel . The Trump campaign will also broadcast the address on its website , and the names of anyone paying at least $ 35 will be highlighted .

C-SPAN and most major news sites will broadcast the address. It’s the same on Twitter , and you don’t have to be logged in, but you should see a stream of tweets called “Top Comments”, which is as awful as it sounds.

The address will be published on the New York Times Live Blog, Politico and Lifehacker Splinter subsidiary site.

In the TV app

Have you figured out how to stream live from any of the above networks to Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku, or Chromecast? Or are you paying for Hulu Live or YouTube TV ? Then you’re done. Check it out first. These apps often lag behind, so if you’re planning on tweeting live, you’ll need to test your stream during pre-coverage to make sure your app isn’t running behind Twitter’s own stream.

SOTU is really easy to watch – much easier than most things you really want to watch. And while presidents announce some initiatives during these addresses, the Trump administration is usually the least surprised when the president reads the script.

Chances are, you end up yelling at your TV or at strangers on Twitter, feeling stressed and powerless, or desperate jokes and jokes about amateur analysis that won’t change anyone. (I know I will!)

Maybe turn on Netflix and turn on the news alert in case something really crazy happens.
