Create Calendar Events in Gmail With Pod

The integration of Gmail and Google Calendar is difficult. Gmail will never be able to recognize all the important event information, and in order to fix this, you need to open Google Calendar in a new tab, which goes against the goal. Luckily, there are third-party fixes like Pod for Gmail that recognizes the event information and loads it into a complete calendar event right in the Gmail window.

The introductory post Pod demonstrates the ideal use case, but Pod for Gmail didn’t always work well for me. One event was easily created, but as soon as I ran more demos to get the screenshot above it started to screw up. However, the Pod uploaded my current schedule in the right pane and I was able to enter all the event information with my email handy. So, even in a crash state, the Pod makes the transition from email to calendar less stressful and less error prone.

The add-on was developed by the developers of Pod , a calendar app for iOS. I’m always wary of apps that promise to “rethink” concepts like contacts, calendars, and messaging — I’ve been burned by too many ambitious apps — but I love anything that reduces friction between them.
