How to Automate Your Morning
If you have multiple smart home accessories , you can compose yourself a real playlist to start your day. Make getting out of bed more musical (and temperature controlled), track your runs without a second thought, or even let someone know you’re running late before leaving the door. After all, the morning should be easy, right?
Wake up with white light and a warm room
After your alarm wakes you up, you will need to hear your favorite melody to start your day on the right foot. You will also need to increase the temperature, given that you are probably dealing with cold weather. Here’s what you can do.
What do you need :
- Flic button
- Smart socket
- Smart Flashlights
What does it do :
- Turns on the heater using a smart plug
- Activates the bright white scene of your smart light to wake up
- Starts a playlist with a morning shower
Press the Flic button to play your morning playlist on your phone or Sonos speaker.
On the Flic button, select the specific button you want to control and click the Plus button next to one of the three predefined commands. Add Apple Music, Spotify or Sonos action and select the playlist you want. Then add a smart light action and choose which lights you want to turn on and adjust their color accordingly (or select a scene). Finally, add a smart plug and turn on the heater so you don’t shake when you step out of the shower.
Reward yourself for every run
Going for a run, especially in the cold, sucks. If you’re going to do a little work out today, you can get started with the push of a button (and with some monetary motivation) before heading out the door.
What do you need :
- Flic button
What does it do :
- Starts automatically tracking your run in Runkeeper or Strava.
- Launches a stopwatch to track your time outside.
- Play workout playlist.
- Donates money to a goal.
You can also automatically reward yourself for what you do for your health. You can use IFTTT recipes to handle this. One IFTTT recipe allows you to save money to reach your goal with the Qapital finance app. To use Flic with IFTTT, you first need to create or edit an IFTTT recipe and assign it to the appropriate button and the correct button press command. Here you can find Flic recipes , connect your IFTTT and Flic accounts and edit them either online or using the IFTTT app .
In your Flic application, add an IFTTT action that corresponds to the button you just created and the preset command. From there, add a stopwatch action to track how long you’ve been outside, automatically start tracking your Strava or Runkeeper run without fiddling with your phone and clumsy gloves, and start moving with songs of your choice with Apple Music and Spotify actions. …
Tell your team that you are late
So you overslept. It happens. Luckily, you can let your coworkers know you’re on the way without wasting time waiting for Slack to load.
What do you need :
- Google home
- Smart socket
- Flic button
- Smart Flashlights
What does it do :
- Sends a Slack message to your channel or colleagues.
- Turns off all your lights.
- Turns off the smart plug.
Using IFTTT, you can send customizable voice commands to your Google Assistant, which is in your Google Home voice assistant. Setting up an IFTTT recipe and linking it to your Slack account can turn “Hey Google, I’m late!” to a message sent to a channel or person when you put on your coat. From there, you can walk out the door, press the Flic button, and make sure the heater and lights are off all day (or just ask the voice assistant to turn it off for you).
