Make Waze Remind You of the Baby in Your Car

News of parents forgetting their children in cars most often occurs during hot summers, but children also die of hypothermia in parked cars and in freezing winters . What I’m saying is that we need to think about this terrible topic all year round.

Parents take various precautions to never make this mistake. Some people leave their phone and wallet next to the baby during the trip. Others have car seats equipped with a sensor that plays a melody when the engine is off and the child is still strapped in.

If you are a regular user of the Waze navigation app, you can do one simple thing right now – activate the “Baby Reminder” function. This is a warning that appears every time your vehicle arrives at its destination, reminding you not to forget your child in the car. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Go to the Waze settings page and in the “Advanced” section select “General”.

2. Click Child Reminder and select Allow Reminders.

3. Add your own message if you want.

Listen: as a child, I would have seen something like this and thought: ” Really?” but it turns out that our good brains can also be flawed , despite the fact that we are sure that we always have a spider mom or dad feeling. Throw in exhaustion and routine changes and no one is immune. You are not lazy with these additional means of protection – quite the opposite. If there is anything on our side to help prevent the unthinkable, I say bring it.
