Keep Your AirPods in Your Ears With This Hack

Apple’s versatile AirPods design might work for most people, but if you have particularly large ears, you might find it difficult to keep your wireless earbuds secure. Don’t worry, you are not alone – and one Apple fan has found a clever way to fix this problem.

On the MacRumors forums, AirPods owner NewZealandMatt told us about his creative process. After discovering that the earbud kept dropping out of his left ear, he tried several of the currently recommended solutions. Adding a foam pad to the AirPod kept it in place, but it was not very comfortable, and putting on the slippery silicone pad only made things worse.

He found that the best solution was to add a little extra grip in a few key areas. Matt pulled this off with a waterproof tape that’s designed to prevent or protect blisters during workout ( Target sells a whole roll of tape for $ 3.39). He then used a hole punch to create a few small circles from the tape and carefully positioned them next to the top opening on the AirPods for extra grip.

This not only prevents the AirPods from falling out, but also completely covers the band with your ears. You will still have to deal with the fact that Apple wireless earbuds make you look a little nutty, but hopefully you’ve already come to terms with that.
