Science Says This Is the Right Way to Hang Toilet Paper.

How to hang toilet paper? The age-old question is whether the “right” way to have the end of a roll pass from above or below, from the side closest to the wall, is as old as time. This is a controversial topic that has torn families apart, and now we have a definitive answer to the question of how to properly hang toilet paper with the end on top.

Inc. reports that a recent study from the University of Colorado is the “right” way because with this method you will only touch the toilet paper you are using yourself.

Bathrooms, especially public ones, are full of bacteria.

If you hang toilet paper using the bottom method, then there is a good chance your hand will touch the wall as you walk a few squares, which could potentially leave bacteria on the wall or pick up something that a previous guest in bathroom left there.

By using the flip method, you can easily avoid the wall and get the paper you want.

Another interesting finding from the study is that if you do manage to get bacteria on your hands, you need to wash them for a long time to get rid of them. To wash your hands thoroughly, you need to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, this is enough to sing “Happy Birthday” twice. If you don’t do this, then washing your hands has essentially done nothing.
