What Your Penis Will Look Like As You Get Older

Hello and welcome to Hot Questions , a column in which we ask doctors to explain strange things your body does or can do, or that you fear, what your body might do, but you probably don’t want to. in your search history. Let’s start.

Today we have two different questions, from readers who want to know what will happen to their penis (or penis in general, I think) over the years. First:

Why do penises, both flaccid and erect, bend with age? I’ve noticed that this is happening to mine, and I’m wondering what I can do to prevent further wandering of my cock. It’s not serious, but noticeable, and I don’t want it to worsen and affect my sex life.

“A curved penis is common and can change with age, but it can also be a sign of a more serious medical condition,” says Dr. Matthew Mintz , an internal medicine practitioner and professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine.

Let’s talk about the normal scenario first. Dr. Minz explains that when your penis becomes erect, it is because two tubes called the corpora cavernosa are filling with blood. Just as breasts can be of different sizes on the left and right, so are the two tubes. The result is a curve that may not be noticeable when you are sluggish, but will be obvious when you are stiff.

The skin on the penis also plays a role in how curved it looks. As you get older and your skin becomes more flabby, the curvature becomes more pronounced.

Great! Everything is fine. Except for the part about a serious illness. What if this is the case? Because it could be.

“It looks like you might develop Peyronie’s disease,” says Dr. Michael Reitano , Roman Men’s Health Resident Physician. In Peyronie’s disease , scar tissue forms that can pull on one side of the penis, causing it to bend. This can happen after an injury, but it can happen for no apparent reason. You may feel the scar tissue as a streak or lump.

The bad news is that Peyronie has a tendency to get worse over time. The good news is that it is curable. If the curve doesn’t bother you, you don’t need to do anything, but if it gets so bad that it becomes painful or sex becomes difficult, there are medications and surgery that can help .

While we’re on the subject of aging penises, it seems like the time to answer this question too:

Here’s my weird question: do older men get liver spots on their penises?

“The skin of the penis is similar to the skin throughout the body. We are aging, it is aging, ”says Dr. Reitano. But liver stains or solar lentigines, if you want to look trendy , are reactions to sun exposure over the years. Therefore, we tend to apply them to exposed skin areas such as our hands.

“It is unlikely that there will be significant sun exposure that will cause a liver stain on the penis,” says Dr. Minz, but I do not know what you are doing with your penis. If liver spots are bothering you, keep them covered.
