Three-Ingredient Happy Hour: Pie and Apple Jack Rose
Happy Friday my friends and welcome back to Happy Hour with 3 Ingredients , a weekly drinks column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. This week we’re making a transitional drink from summer to fall: Jack Rose Apple Pie.
I know summer is technically over, but the weather is constantly fluctuating between hot and cold, so I’m not sure what kind of alcohol I should add to my body. It’s too warm for a full toddy situation, but I still feel a strong pull to match my drink to the leaves on the ground. Applejack is the answer, and there is a lot of it in this cocktail.
In addition to Apple’s Jack Laird, this drink also contains tart, sunny-tasting lemon juice and some grenadine. If you are a very trendy person with very unusual tastes, you can make your own grenadine from pomegranate juice, but I will not judge anyone for using store bought. To prepare a drink for two seasons, you will need:
- 2 1/2 oz. Apple Jack Laird
- 30 g fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce grenadine
Combine all ingredients in a stirring glass filled with ice and stir until cool. Strain into a compartment glass and garnish with a strip of lemon zest you just squeezed out. Enjoy the sun as you watch the many colorful autumn leaves.
