Google Maps for Android Now Supports Parking in 25 Cities

You (and everyone else) probably use Google Maps to get around, call sharing services, and figure out where to go for lunch. An update to Maps for Android now adds the ability to search for parking lots, making it easier to navigate specific cities.

On the route card, you will see a “find parking” option which will display a list of potential locations where the whip can be parked. You will also get walking routes from the parking spot to your destination if the main directions are not your forte.

At the moment, the service is available only for Android devices and is available in 25 cities:

  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Charlotte
  • Chicago
  • Cleveland
  • Dallas / Fort Worth
  • COLUMBIA REGION
  • Denver
  • Detroit
  • Houston
  • Los Angeles
  • Miami
  • Minneapolis / St. Paul
  • New York
  • Orlando
  • Philadelphia
  • Phoenix
  • Pittsburgh
  • Portland
  • San diego
  • Sacramento
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Saint Louis
  • Tampa

The update also includes an expansion of the “parking difficulty” rating released earlier this year for both Android and iOS. In addition to the 25 metro districts supported in the US, Google added 25 cities outside the US based on over 100,000 parking survey responses combined with machine learning to predict your chances of getting a good spot.
