Make Sure Your Clothes Do Not Fray by Ironing Instead of Washing

If there’s one good reason to do a scent test, it’s this: Washing and drying your clothes after each wear is one of the quickest ways to put those clothes on. Yes, there are ways to improve your washing skills, but you still shove your favorite washes into the machine to get excited – yes, that’s what it is called – and then into another machine to get blasted in the heat.

You know what all the fluff you pull out of the dryer is, right? Pieces of fabric fibers from your clothes. Even if your shirts didn’t shrink when washed, they literally got smaller.

But I understand. You want to wash this outfit not necessarily because it is dirty, but because it looks dirty. Or rather, as if you’ve been wearing it all day. Old folds in the elbows and hip joints, with a pleasant wrinkle in front of all hours of sitting at the table.

And yes, you don’t want to wear it again without solving these problems. But washing is not always the answer. Now that the weather is chilly again, it’s time to get back to one of my favorite fashion habits: ironing your clothes instead of washing them.

Yes, ironing can seriously damage your clothes. However, if you keep the iron at a temperature appropriate for the fabric and don’t leave the iron leaning against your clothes when you log on to Twitter, your clothes should leave your ironing board wrinkled, fresh and fresh. ready to wear.

This is the same result you are trying to achieve with a washer / dryer, only without stirring – or without a “high efficiency spin cycle” if you have a newer machine – and without lint. After all, there is a reason why there is no such thing as iron pile.

(I would joke that ironing is your personal dry cleaning, but you use the steam and spray functions on the iron, right?)

Therefore, before throwing a shirt in the trash, check to see if it is really dirty. Did you spill coffee on it? Was it a particularly sweaty day? DO YOU HAVE AN SMELL? Wash it off.

But if your clothes look wrinkled or wrinkled, give them an iron instead. These fabric fibers will cling to life for a little longer and you will end up with clothes that look like they’ve never been worn.
