Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Meyer’s Lemon Mule

Happy weekend and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. Today we are going to add a bright and sunny version of the classic soda composition: Moscow Mule.

I have nothing against the “ordinary” Moscow mule. The combination of vodka, freshly squeezed lime juice and ginger beer is a triumph of tart and sweet refreshing. But the other day, I was browsing the groceries at my grocery store when a few very happy-looking Meyer’s lemons caught my eye. (They are currently out of season, but many specialty stores import them all year round.) These slightly rounded and orange lemons are thought to be crossed with either mandarin or regular orange and are sweeter and less sour. pulp and juice. (They smell great too. Honestly, I want to smell like Meyer’s lemon all the time.)

When added to a mule, Meyer’s lemon juice makes the slightly invigorating cocktail a little softer and sunnier. It’s almost the same as drinking ginger lemonade, but, you know, drunk. To make a sweet and sour drink, you will need:

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 3/4 oz fresh Meyer lemon juice
  • 3-4 ounces of a spiced ginger beer – not ale – like Cock ‘n’ Bull or Reed’s.

Add vodka and juice to Collins glass and stir a little. (You can also use a classic copper mug, but this is not necessary .) Scoop up some ice and add 3-4 ounces of ginger beer. Stir again and take a sip of liquid sunlight.
