Here’s What Will and What Will Happen to Netflix in September 2017

If September fills you with school nostalgia, you’ll probably be pleased that Netflix will return to a slew of kickbacks next month. Sharpen your new pencils as Vincent Vega jabs a syringe into Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction ! Close your textbooks while Todd Anderson climbs onto the table at the Dead Poets Society ! Have a packed lunch while the refrigerator crashes after Sarah Goldfarb’s Requiem for a Dream ! Wow, the 90s were dark.

Basic moments

Netflix delves into the archives this month, pulling out classics like She’s Gotta Have It (pre-reboot ), Amores Perros and The Secret Garden , the only movie I watched as a kid more than Little Princess . (Both, incidentally, are based on books written by Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett, who seems to be very fixated on young girls raised in India who are sent to live in cold, stuffy homes in England.)

Also on the showdown are Jaws 1, 2, 3 and Jaws: Revenge , perhaps designed to kill any irrelevant summer nostalgia?

As for nostalgia, let’s go back to the simpler times – “The Squid and the Whale,” a 2005 Noah Baumbach drama set in Brooklyn in 1986 and filmed mostly with a portable camera. Bonus Features: The always excellent Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney, as well as the early distraught young Jesse Eisenberg.

For a real shock, watch the film “Oh, Those Kids” and understand that it came out almost 20 years ago.

Outgoing ones include The Emperor’s New Groove , by far the best Disney movie ever made (not @ me), as well as Floating Hopes , Omen and The Scream . The Freak movie is also leaving, but at least in its place we will take Hotel for Dogs .
