Three Ingredient Happy Hour: Last Minute Kick

Happy weekend and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week is a special edition of the Happiest Hours because I’m in New York so I can prepare a large bowl of booze for my colleagues.

As this was a special occasion and there are so many of us, I skipped individual cocktails and opted for a large punch. Since we were (as usual) limited to three ingredients, I had to make sure there were three very flavorful ingredients, so I turned to Saint-Germain eleflower liquor, also known as “bartender’s ketchup”, for help. The video above has all the details, but the ratios are pretty simple. To make this quick and easy yet flavorful punch, you’ll need:

  • 1 bottle of Saint Germain
  • 1 bottle (approximately 750 ml) ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 2 bottles of sparkling wine (all with bubbles will work for you)

If you know you are going to hit this shot a little ahead of time, you can make a giant ice block and put it in the freezer. But if you really do it at the last minute, like I usually do, just grab an ice pack from the grocery store or whatever. Take a large bowl and pour Saint-Germain and juice into it. Give everything a little stir to dissolve the syrup and add bubbles on top. Stir gently again, then transfer to a small bowl filled with ice.
