TabBank Makes Writing Your Own Guitar Music Easier Than Ever

Writing lyrics and guitar chords with pen and paper is easy enough, TabBank makes it just as easy on your iOS devices. It’s as easy as typing.

The app, released today, is developed by designer Chris Ladd , who created the app for lessons playing the guitar ChordBank and application for creating notes the Better the Notes . It allows you to combine songs with chords, lyrics, and even tablatures, which can then be printed or shared online in PDF form. The app also lets you import existing tabs from the web so you can customize them yourself, or use the in-app audio preview feature to hear how the solo should sound. The Safari mobile extension is required to import, but after installing it, just go to the sites with your favorite guitar tabs, find the song you like, and click the Share button. The song will appear in the app.

But if you’re a creative person, writing your own songs is an easy task because TabBank places your most frequently used chords at the top of the keyboard, so you can write an entire verse in seconds. And editing and navigating the tablature is quick with the application’s arrow keys. Plus, you can always touch a chord or tab to see how it sounds as you edit your music.

You can download TabBank for free from the iOS App Store and use it to write your own songs. But if you want to share those songs as PDFs, print them, or import other people’s tabs, you need to upgrade to the Pro version for $ 7.99. Ladd says the desktop version is also in development this fall.
