Callum Jones of Can I Jailbreak , a site that tells you which iOS devices are ready to be jailbroken, doesn’t expect a public utility to be released anytime soon. Moreover, well-known programmers such as Luca Todesco have publicly stated that hacking a device is more of a problem than it is worth. Todesco tweeted that he is completing his public research on jailbreaking iOS, so your chances of installing Cydia on your iOS device are almost nonexistent anytime soon.
“Apple’s release timing (they are releasing iOS updates faster than before, with a greater focus on security) and the complex nature of the hack means a lot of work is required.
Even sites like iOS9Cydia and DownloadPangu claim to have current hacking tools, but according to Jones, these sites are “grabbing generic names or brands to increase search traffic, promising new hacks.” There are other factors that also influence the release of the jailbreak, factors that Apple is trying to complicate.
Since some jailbreak programmers collect donations to support their work, “it’s important for jailbreak developers to take time to get the most out of them,” says Jones. Faster updates and an emphasis on security have made it harder to hack iOS, and it’s not worth it.
