How to Make the Perfect PB&J Sandwich
As a child, culinary writer Priya Krishna ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at every school lunch for eleven years , during which time she (and her mother) perfected the recipe, such an ideal that she still eats them. Krishna has five tips for the perfect PB&J:
- Spread the seasoning evenly over the entire surface of the bread.
- Use fruit chunks of jam instead of jam or jelly.
- Stick to strawberries and raspberries, not blueberries or anything fancy.
- Slice the sandwich diagonally.
- Wrap it in foil rather than plastic wrap to keep it less sticky.
We would personally like to add: Toast your bread. It adds a touch of freshness to a potentially wet sandwich and makes it easier to spread the crunchy peanut butter. Another way to avoid dampness is to apply peanut butter to both slices of bread .
Krishna tells several charming stories from her PB&J story , making it clear that she knows there are other dinners out there. But why keep searching when you have found the One?
