You Are Not Wearing Your Child’s Car Seat Correctly
We all know how to transport a child car seat, right? You put your hand through the handle, place it on the inside of your elbow, and let it hang. Then, later on, you inject Advil for pain in the wrist, neck and back caused by dragging at least 20 pounds at an uncomfortable angle.
But what if we do it all wrong? This is a completely candid assessment of Texas chiropractor Emily Puente , who took pictures of herself showing us the most ergonomic way to carry a car seat. She reaches over the handle, but then realizes: she turns her forearm, and then grabs the loop of the handle with her palm. This support distributes the weight of the seat more evenly, relieves stress on the upper back, shoulders and hips, and makes long walks from the car to the grocery store less painful.
