How to Trace Ideas Safely While Driving With IFTTT

Have you ever found epic ideas in a car ? If so, then you’ve probably struggled to figure out how to jot down those ideas without turning into an oncoming lane. It can be distracting for sure, but one Redditor has a helpful suggestion that includes one of our favorite tools: IFTTT.

If This, Then That is an incredible tool that allows you to connect two applications and automate specific tasks between them. Want calendar events to automatically turn into Todoist tasks? IFTTT can help with this . Want to automatically text someone on their birthday? You can also do this with IFTTT . The possibilities are almost endless and you can view their applets here .

On Reddit, however, one user points to an IFTTT applet that can help you keep track of thoughts and ideas while you’re in your car, from Siri to Trello. You connect Siri to Trello and then activate the applet so you can use voice-activated Siri to add something to your Trello board. If you’re not using Trello, you can customize the recipe and connect it to your tasks or note-taking app of choice.

And if you don’t have Siri, you can connect IFTTT to Google Assistant for Android. For example, here’s an applet that lets you save anything to Evernote using the Google Assistant. Again, if you’re not using Evernote, just tweak the “what” part of the applet in the app you are using.

Of course, you can always use the default note taking feature that comes with Google Assistant or Siri (Google Assistant uses Google Keep by default, for example). However, if you are not using these defaults, IFTTT is a useful way to switch to the tool or application that you are actually using. This way, you can keep your eyes on the road while keeping your best thoughts and ideas wherever you want.
