This Tool Temporarily Disables Twitter Accounts of Anyone Using Words You Are Tired Of

Twitter is a weird social network, and while there are many tools out there to disable an account or keyword altogether, Supermute takes a different approach. Enter a keyword or phrase into Supermute, and then it will mute any account with that phrase for a set period of time.

The idea here is that while Twitter’s mute feature is useful, its persistence can be frustrating as you have to go back and manually re-enable someone. Supermute lets you set time frames. So, for example, if you’re tired of my (and everyone else’s) idiotic tweets about Apple during their press conferences, you can set up Supermute to mute anyone who says “Apple” for the next six hours. This is great for avoiding spoilers if you’re tired of politics or whatever.

Also, since Supermute uses Twitter’s built-in mute function, it is platform independent, meaning you can set it up using your web browser at home, but the mute function should work on any other devices or apps.
