Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Blackberry & Lavender Effervescent
Happy Friday, everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. Today I feel quite resilient and wanted to create a cocktail that is as pleasing to the eyes as it is delicious.
Basically, I wanted something a little fruity, a little floral and pretty, like an Easter egg . While it sounded a bit ambitious at first, I was able to create such a drink using just three aromatic ingredients and the result is a great taste. Bonus: This drink can be prepared right in the glass, saving you time and utensils.
For this solar libation you will need:
- 3 large ripe blackberries
- 2 ounces of botanically designed gin like Farmer’s Organic , Hendrick’s, or The Botanist
- Lavender soda
Combine the blackberries in the bottom of a Collins glass or any other tall, narrow glass. (You can use a pint glass, but then I would increase the berries to 5 and the gin to 3 ounces and maybe step on my own.) Once the berries are nice and juicy, pour in the gin and stir. Fill a glass with ice — standard freezer cubes will do — and top with a lilac drink. (If you can’t find a lilac fizzy drink, but you really need to sip it on your porch: don’t panic, fizzy lemonade will do, it just won’t be as floral. worry about finding lavender syrups.)
