How to Get the Most Out of Dried Mushroom Flavor

Dried mushrooms are a quick way to add depth to any dish, especially soups, stews, and sauces. They are a lot of fun on their own, but you can add even more flavor to your dried mushrooms by changing the liquid in which you moisturize them.

Most of us simply toss dried mushrooms in hot water, cover them (to help them recover faster), and wait for the water to absorb. That’s okay – it makes a delicious mushroom-infused liquid that we can use as a base for the broth, but if you substitute broth or wine for the water, you can make something much richer. wine or broth, and broth infused with mushrooms, which can be used in your current dish or set aside for another time. I recommend heating the broth before adding the mushrooms as this will speed up the hydration. For the same reason, if you are using white wine, try bringing it to room temperature before soaking the mushrooms.
