Cossack Goblet Squats Challenge Thigh Muscles and Balance

Here’s a fun variation on side lunges. The Cossack Goblet squat forces you to balance on one leg and twist the other with your toes up. This is a great workout for the muscles on the outside of the thigh … okay, really for all the muscles in the legs.

You can do this continuously from side to side, as shown here, or stand between reps to slow down a bit. The movement is mostly a side lunge , but requires a little more coordination. I also found that in squatting this movement I lower myself lower than usual in the side lunges.
