Day Remaining: Apple WWDC Will Be Held June 5
Apple will host its worldwide developer conference on June 5. While this isn’t usually a forum for introducing new hardware, Apple is likely to take a look at the future of all of its software, from iOS to macOS. About this and much more in today’s news.
- Apple WWDC17 will take place June 5-9 in San Jose, California. Aside from the main presentation it starts with, most of the event is really for developers. Ticket registration opens on March 27. [Apple]
- Yahoo is warning some users that government-sponsored accounts may have been hacked in 2015 or 2016 . The attacks appear to use sophisticated fake cookies that can access accounts without using a password. [ZDNet]
- Twitter is temporarily blocking some users for bad behavior. Affected tweeters receive a message stating that the functionality of their accounts is “temporarily limited,” which means that only their followers can see their activity for 12 hours. This effectively limits their reach and temporarily prevents people from spamming others with profanity. [BuzzFeed]
- Reddit has changed the way their infamous front page chooses top stories to post. Instead of showing top stories from the 50 major subreddits that were specifically included in r / all, popular stories from across the site will now be shown. The new home page, now called r / popular, should theoretically display more varied stories for users who are not yet signed in.
