Simplify Treating Your Dog With DIY Pill Pockets

Getting your dog to take pills can be tricky because they are often not as tasty, and while pill pockets help, store-bought treats designed for this purpose can quickly become expensive. Make these pockets of pills with three ingredients to cut costs and make your dog’s treatment easier.

Besides saving money, making your own pill pockets allows you to customize the flavor and size. You only need three ingredients: peanut butter, flour, and milk or water. You can replace peanut butter with something your dog likes, such as minced meat or cheese. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, check with your veterinarian before collecting these pill pockets.

Use a 2: 1: 1 ratio of ingredients (flour, peanut butter, milk, or water) and combine in a bowl. Use a spoon to scoop out a small amount, roll it into a ball and use your finger or the end of a spoon to create a well for the tablet. When adding a tablet, make sure it is covered with the mixture. You can make a batch and store in the refrigerator for up to a week (if using peanut butter) or in the freezer for up to three months.
